During this World Cup we have seen many famous faces visit our city, none more instantly recognisable than the great footballer Kevin Keegan.

Kevin was in Gloucester giving a talk at The Hatherley Manor hotel in support of Gloucester City Football Club, guest of the evening were treated to a slide show of sporting hero’s and an interesting and humorous talk revolving around the great man’s career.

Kevin was part of Bill Shankly’s superb squad of the 70’s where he made some 230 appearances for the club.

In 1973 Kevin was part of the squad that saw Liverpool win the League Championship and the UEFA Cup a feat they repeated a few years later.

In 1974 the team went from strength to strength and won the F.A. Cup that year.

1977 saw the squad achieve the sporting great of winning the illusive treble the League Championship, the League cup and the European Cup.

After leaving Liverpool Kevin managed several teams including the England Squad.
